Anyone miss me?

I hope everyone's holidays were memorable and that your new year is off to a great start!  I've been dealing with an evil, nasty bitch better known as menopause. Yep, the big, mighty "M".  After a few months of overwhelming depression, anxiety attacks, insomnia, and just plain not feeling like myself the least little bit, my gynecologist (I love her) has been working with me to find an anti-depressant that will get me back to my old self. The problem with anti-depressants is that they don't work immediately and if one doesn't help, you have to be backed off of it before you can start another - meaning it takes weeks to find the one that's just right.  Sheer hell and a huge pain in the ass. Feeling like Goldilocks these days, and realizing that this won't be a quick fix - my Dr. indicates that we're talking  weeks to get to an acceptable place and years of medicating to stay there and get through it.

I do feel like we're on the right track with this last prescription and while there might need to be some tweaking on the dosage, my fingers are crossed that we're getting close to hitting the nail on the head.

Let me know what you're reading, whether you have any new authors to dish about, etc. While I've not felt like myself, one of the things I've taken solace in is reading lots and lots of romance!

I may have lost even my most loyal followers after this absence, but I truly hope not. Thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated - and I thank you for your patience!

Happy New Year!
Laurie

I am reading Kaki Warner's Colorado Dawn and it good. Its the second book in her Brides of the High country series. I had to reread the first book again to get it back in my head.

Hang in there you will find something that will work for you. I know where you are coming from. My doctor has me on low dose of hormones. They seem to help some.

So happy to see a post from you! And that this medicine just might be the one to help you through this.

I haven't been doing alot of reading but I did just finish Maya Banks Shades of Gray. I love her KGI series!

Laurie,
You've definitely been missed. I went through the big "M" just as I was hitting 50. Never experienced depression but I still have insomnia issues but then my sleeping patterns have been messed up all my life. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Currently reading Trouble in Mudbug by Kathy Backus and loving it.

Hi Laurie,

Glad to hear that you might have found the medication to help you through this adjustment in your body. I luckily didn't have depression just night sweats! YUCK!

I'm sure with Tim's support and books you will get through this.

I've been on a contemp kick lately.
Loved several by Linda Lael Miller: A LAWMAN'S CHRISTMAS, A CREED IN STONE CREEK,
CREED'S HONOR and THE CREED LEGACY.

I finished Victoria Dahl's CLOSE ENOUGH TO TOUCH, Diana Palmer's WYOMING FIERCE and finally THE WRANGLER and THE DEFENDER by Lindsay McKenna. Before that Jill Shalvis' Animal Magnetism and Animal Attraction

Next up Linda Lael Miller's BIG SKY MOUNTAIN then Jill Shalvis' Instant trilogy.

This is quite a switch for me as I primarily read historical romancess for at least 10 months of 2012.

I was wondering what was up. Prayers and thoughts are of course yours. Maybe you be better soon.

I have read a lot of books so far this month - read books 2-7 of Bella Andre's Sullivan series; currently reading book #1, plus several other books incl Deb Macomber's Starting Now. Enjoyed them all.

Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts and well wishes. This too shall pass.

I love hearing what you're all reading!

I've found a new (to me) author and have really enjoyed her work. Kristan Ashley - she has several series and I suggest reading them in order. All are first person, which I don't typically enjoy, but she does a stellar job with it. Her heroes aren't always even likable at the beginning of the book and more often than not are very rough around the edges, but they more than redeem themselves by book's end.

I've caught up with Bella Andre's Sullivan family and am down to the last two books in Shannon Stacey's Kowalski family - these are both very good series.

Big hugs, Laurie--I did miss you while you were "away"--glad your doctor's helping you get back on the right track! It's hard when you're not feeling yourself and it's hard to pin down why!

As for reading, I'm a little scattered, but I have been enjoying having my socks blown off by Carrie Lofty and Katie Porter (Carrie writing with Lorelie Brown)--they sometimes hit some pretty serious kink, but they have the emotional big guns and storytelling skills to really pull me in. I'm appreciating them so much!

Hope to see more of you this year :)
