Hotter than Hell

I swear, I think the devil is licking at my heels! It's too hot to breathe. I know that a heat index of 105+ is nothing to people in the south - we've been in Savannah when it was higher than that and there were men and women in suits who weren't even damp. Me? I wilt like a week-old table arrangement. I admit to being a big ol' pansy. Heck, I could be the spokesperson for Pansies Anonymous. I'm one of those people who is typically chilly most of the time, never without a sweater or a jacket, but when it gets this warm I can sweat with the best of them. Not just a sheen of feminine dew mind you, I'm talking rivulets of hair-wetting, salty, construction worker-worthy sweat. I just opt to stay indoors as much as possible and I keep a small shaker of Crabtree & Evelyn Summer Hill body powder and a Power Fresh scent Lady Speed Stick in my purse! Where are you and how do you keep cool on these unbearably hot summer days?
Cool "air" hugs to you - it's too hot for real hugs!

Luckily it has cooled down here because I whine in the heat, a lot. Can't handle it. But to stay cool? Ice cream. Always ice cream.

Ice cream works every time, doesn't it? My fav. is vanilla w/(extra) hot fudge sauce *or* Better Batter from Maggy Moo's - tastes just like yellow cake batter out of the bowl! Soooo not good for me.

Yes, Jill is right. I've been having Cappuccino blasts for my dinner because it's sooo freakin' hot, I'm not hungry, but the blasts do help. So not good for me either, but man are they yummy...plus I know I'm sweating them off.

I am one who is cold all the time, and I darn near freeze in the stores that have their airconditioning cranked way up, but with the heat we have been having I find that I resort to ice cream and bottles of ice water. I also try to stay inside.

I am at the eastern end of Lake Ontario -- about 30 miles south of Canada. We are so far north, we don't normally get prolonged hot spells. But this year has been too much. It started over Memorial Day W/E, and has been pretty much consistently hot, hot, hot. On Tuesday it was 92, with a heat index of 112. We've always had just one window A/C unit for our bedroom, but Tuesday was the final straw. We went out and bought another A/C, and dragged an old one out of our shed. Now we have all three of them going and the house is like heaven. I am having a certain amount of guilt over being an energy hog, and I'm sure I'll flirt with "the big one" when I get the electric bill, but right now it seems worth it.

Ok I caved. Still don't like the devil guy there. Gives me the willies...

Its been so hot I have no energy to do anything once I get home. I know what you mean barb about the AC. Mine has been running 24/7 for ages now. I dread the bill when it comes in but I can't sleep w.o it.

I'll put up a new blog in the next day or so, Judy, and you won't have to look at my devil any longer!

Our AC has been running constantly - I even have it turned up to 78-80 most of the time.

Storms rolled through here this afternoon and it has taken the edge off, but it's still very sticky.
