Denyse Bridger is guesting today - here's a bit about her new Ellora's Cave release, HIDE AND SECRET:
The idea for HIDE AND SECRET began as a stray thought, because in an odd way, through the wonderful entertainment of role-playing that has emerged on Facebook, I was inadvertently cast in the role of "other" without realizing it. Friends and acquaintances abound when you're a public person, as authors tend to be in this wonderful cyber world. I've been friended in recent months by a vast array of vampires, demons, lords and werewolves, to name a few. One of them began a flirtation, and me being me, I played along. It ended up being a case of chat and fun via PM, too - and I told him I felt like his other woman... the idea stayed past the laughter, and I wrote a fictional journal entry and called it "The Secret That He Keeps" and posted a piece of it on FB. I thought that would be an end to it, but Quinn and Bella weren't through talking, so I went back and added more to the piece. At that point, I didn't actually even know their names. I showed the piece to a friend, more of less as "mind-candy" and to give her a laugh, but she surprised me, she wanted to read more, and felt it was a very sexy and alluring story.... as I wrote more, I also started to recognize who I was writing about - a friend who plays the role of Qhuinn Longstrong on Facebook.... (He's from J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood books.) So, I channeled my friend Qhuinn and gave the hero his name. A few more beta reads and my partner on this one suggested that it go to Ellora's Cave.... Imagine my surprise when it was contracted? So, who knows? What began as a stray thought has become a five-star rated erotic "Quickie" for one of the most respected publishing houses in the business! Now I've been asked to tell more of Quinn and Bella's story so there will be a sequel and probably a prequel, too!!!
Thanks for chatting today everyone - and if there are any questions, fire away!!! I'll be in and out all day!! Laurie - as always - thank you for letting me come and talk with your readers! And yes, despite the distance between us, I love ya, girlfriend!! HUGS and MORE HUGS!!!

This is such a great way to get an idea...you always come up with something unique!
Hi Denyse,
I have heard of your books although I've never read any of them and this one sounds particularly interesting. Thanks for the giveaway!!!!!!
I've had the joy and pleasure of watching some of this spin together on FB, what a great way to put this all together! I'm glad it's going so well! :)
FANTASTIC! I love hearing about what inspires a writer to come up with those 'everyday' tales that are SO extraordinary when they're so beautifully written by a talented author such as Ms Bridger.
That is so wonderful Denyse, congrats with the publication and I know it will do well *grin*
The cover is sooo HOT ;O)
Thank you, everyone! This one was fun to write because I was more or less writing it for a friend, and that always seems to make them more interesting to me. You're all great, and I appreciate your comments and enthusiasm!!!
Hugs to all,
Denysé
I loved reading about how you came to write this story. You made it seem effortless while I know it couldn't have been that easy! I have it in my TBR efile so don't enter me in the contest.
Thanks to all who have stopped by! I've enjoyed your comments - be sure to tell your reader friends to drop in!
Sounds real interesting. Laurie D always has great authors for me to pick up their latest book.
Hope it does well for you.
Great! I enjoy finding out how an author comes up with a story.
Love the insight on how you came to write this story. Also, I especially like the short format of the Quickies. I feel like I can accomplish something in one sitting. Hope this "mini" series does well for you.
Interesting story about how your new release "came to be"
You are a new author for me so I will have to check out your work more.
How long have you been a published writer? How would you describe your work to someone who has never read you before? Do you write in one genre or multiple?
can you tell us about anything you might be working on now or something else you have coming out soon?
Love the excerpt.
Thanks so very much for stopping by, guys - you're the best ever! And Barb S? I'm telling ya, you could take Barbara Walters' place in television interviews. You always have the best questions!
Another book to add to my TBR pile, can't wait to read it. Thanks for sharing how the story about how you developed the story.
Hello everyone - this is my third attempt to get this posted, so here's hoping! First off, thank you ALL for dropping by and chatting, it's always wonderful to hear from new people and old friends. Laurie, always a pleasure to share some time with you, and thank you for letting me take over your space yet again!
Barb, your questions:
How long have you been a published writer?
My first sold work was published way back around 1990 or so, several short fantasy works. My first professional release in the romance world happened in 2004, and I haven't stopped since!
How would you describe your work to someone who has never read you before? Do you write in one genre or multiple?
I never really stick to one genre, ever. I like to mix them up and keep things interesting for readers, often in the same book. I think if I was to describe the work it would be along the lines of passionate stories told with love - regardless of genre. I love to infuse all my work with honest emotion, and I believe that's the thing readers respond to most often, the sense of being swept up and into the story. That's a wonderful feeling!
Can you tell us about anything you might be working on now or something else you have coming out soon?
I've been experimenting with all kinds of things recently, and have just released my first ménage story, which was a real change of pace for me! At the moment, I am working on my first shifter/werewolf tale, a new romance tale, and my next major fantasy novel, which will involve gargoyles and Roman gods! Should be wonderful!!
Again, many thanks for all your wonderful comments. And, as Laurie has asked me to pick a couple of winners, I will do that now!
Love and blessings to you all,
Denyse
